Obituary of Louis Price

ROCHESTER, NY – July 5, 2024
Louis Price was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey on September 19, 1945 to the late Henry Price and the late Sallie Mae (Guice) Price. He spent his childhood and adolescence in Lackawanna and Buffalo, NY. He enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 18. Stationed in Alaska, Louis served his country for four years. Louis received his Associates’ Degree from Erie Community College, and his Bachelor’s Degree from Empire State College in Computer Science. Louis was father to two sons Melvin (Changa) and Louis Ali.
He married his wife, Caril Ann Powell on August 20, 1983. In 1989 Louis and Caril were blessed with the birth of their daughter Aisha. Together Louis and Caril were members of the Westside Community Theatre Company in Rochester, NY. He also performed in the GEVA Theatre production of A Raisin in the Sun. Louis loved sports. Not only was he a high school track runner and basketball player, he worked out and played sports until the age of 74. He was an avid basketball player, tennis player and golfer. Louis was recognized by the Eastman Kodak Company Recreation Department as League Champions in the Men’s Over 35 Division in 1987. He was a member of Tennis Players Without Partners, who would go on to win the 1992 Fall Tournament for the Men’s Division II. In 2002, Louis was the 2nd place winner in the Monroe County Senior Golf Games. Louis was a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan, and longed to see the day the team would bring home a Super Bowl win.
Louis is predeceased by; his Parents, Henry and Sallie Mae Price; his Sisters, Joan and Veronica. He leaves to cherish his legacy; his Wife, Caril; Sons, Changa (Angela), Louis Ali; Daughter, Aisha (Sean); Grandchildren, Dunia, Zhara, Changa, Natalya, Assahta, Ivy, Sarai, Serena, Sean Jr.; Sister, Janet; Brother, Gary; Mother-in-law, Johnnie Mae Powell. A Special Cousin, Marcus (Pamela); Brothers-in-law, Walter, Ronnie and Andre; Sisters-in-law, Mary and Ulandus (Larry) and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and friends.
Friends may call Saturday, July 13 from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM at In Christ New Hope Ministry, 155 Pinnacle Road, Rochester, NY. The Funeral Service to Celebrate his life will immediately follow at 12:00 Noon with Minister Larry Quinn, officiating. Interment at the convenience of the family.
