Obituary of Deacon Benjamin Burkins

ROCHESTER, NY – April 13, 2024 Benjamin Burkins was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 24, 1933 to Benjamin Burkins, Sr. and Martha Luster-Burkins. He attended Public School in Louisiana and then attended college prior to joining the United States Air Force. He served for 22 years from 1950 - 1972. He was a technical Sergeant while in the Air Force. Alter retirement from the Air Force, he moved lo Rochester, New York where he met his wife Ruthie Jones Burkins. Deac. Loved lo eat, Golden Corral and Red Lobster were two of his favorite restaurants. He also had a sweet tooth and enjoyed all types of desserts. Benjamin Burkins joined Aenon Missionary Baptist Church and later became a Deacon in 1987. He served as a Sunday School and Bible Study Teacher, he was part of Aenon’s Hospitality Ministry, Senior Citizens Ministry and faithfully attended Prayer Meeting. Deacon Burkins was also very instrumental in keeping our church supplied with Soul Winning Tracks (The Importance of Salvation, How to Become Saved, Healing and Prayer, to name a few) for both adults and children. Deacon Burkins was preceded in death by; his parents and wife, Deaconess Ruthie Burkins. He departed this life on April 13, 2024. Deacon Benjamin Burkins had a beautiful spirit and an infectious smile, here to cherish his memory are his church family, care giver, friends and family. Friends may call Thursday, April 25 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Aenon Baptist Church, 175 Genesee Street, Rochester, NY. The Funeral Service to Celebrate his life will immediately follow.
