ROCHESTER, NY - March 14, 2024 Julian Sampson Brown, Sr., the beloved and youngest son of the late Ben and Corine Thomas Brown was born on September 25, 1932, in Lake City, South Carolina. He departed this life on March 14th, 2024, in Rochester, New York. Julian graduated from Carver High School where he was well known for his athletic abilities. He starred in football, basketball, and baseball. He later attended Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina. Julian joined the Army where he fought in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954. After his tour of duty, he worked for several years at Baxter Industries. Julian was married to the late Mattie Snowden Brown for 62 years. To this union two children were born. After relocating to Rochester, New York, Julian was employed by Eastman Kodak Company for 25 years. Julian was a devoted member of Memorial AME Zion Church for over 50 years. He was a Class Leader, Usher, Steward, Trustee, Life Member and served on the Men’s Ministry. Julian is remembered for his roles in the Church plays and for his barbeque ribs at the Men’s Cookoff. Julian had a love for sports. He was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Julian leaves to cherish his memory: Son: Julian Brown, Jr., Daughter: Louiza Shereta Brown-Harris; Grandchildren: Vanessa (Rob) Stewart, Jerome (Kabuki) Brown, Scema Brown, Julian (Jessica) Brown III, Sherod (La Taura) Harris, Shawn (Jonique) Harris and Sherika Dozier. Great Grandchildren: Alaya and Dante Stewart, Nia Lewis, Prince, Kiamani and Joia Brown, Semaj George, Semiyah Jackson, Julian IV and Jocelyn Brown, Chase and Jaxon Harris, Knick and Chole Scott, Dior Powell, Journey & Janessa Harris, Shaiojzia Moore and Keon Gaskin. Brothers and Sisters in-laws. God daughters: Carolyn Carrol and Victoria Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Calling hours, Tuesday, March 26th from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Memorial AME Zion Church, 549 Clarissa Street, Rochester, New York 14608. Funeral service to follow immediately. Rev. Derrill A.
