ROCHESTER, NY – February 28, 2024 Mr. Battle Sr. was born May 1, 1951 in Akron, OH. He is the son of the late Jonnie Battle and the late Ruth (Wilson) Battle. He married Gloria Thomas. Deacon & Trustee Roy K. Battle, Sr. transitioned to be with the Lord on February 28, 2024. He was a founding member of Christian Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, the first African Church in Henrietta NY, where he served faithfully as a Deacon, Trustee, Secretary of the Sunday School, Men's Fellowship, and the Royal Echoes Men's Choir. He also graciously served in other capacities as needed. He worked for Xerox Corporation for many years and retired from the Rochester City School District where he was a teacher. He is survived by; his loving wife of 52 years, Gloria Thomas Battle; daughter, Renee' Kianna Battle; son, Roy K. Battle, Jr. and a host of additional relatives, friends, and church family. The viewing will be Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 549 Clarissa Street, Rochester, NY. The Funeral Service to Celebrate his life will immediately follow at 12:00 Noon. Interment at the convenience of the family.
