Obituary of Edward Walker

Please share a memory of Edward to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
ROCHESTER, NY – March 19, 2023 EDWARD WALKER, known as Edd was born March 27, 1948 in a small rural farming community of Mashulaville, (Noxubee County) Mississippi, near the eastern border of the state, which is now the town of Macon, Mississippi. He was the youngest of three children of Luvert Sr. “Gennie” and Isabella “Bella” Walker. He, like his siblings, grew up in the segregated south during the peak of the Civil Rights Movement and the Jim Crow era. Despite these challenges, he was blessed with the nurturing of a faith-based family that encouraged him to unite with Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church, Highway 14 South. Having this experience fed his lifelong commitment to serve the needs of others every chance he got. Edd completed high school at Liddell High in Macon, Mississippi and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Rust College in Holly Springs, Mississippi. Edd, like the vast majority of the students at Rust College, worked on campus to finance his tuition and living expense for the entire four years of college. He was initiated into the Psi Rho Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and served on many student-based campus organizations during his undergraduate career. Shortly after graduating from Rust College, Edd relocated to Rochester, New York and obtained his first job with Montgomery Neighborhood Center, 10 Cady Street. Eventually, Edd met and married Annie Pearl Napier in 2002. He worked for several companies before his most recent position with Atkell as a maintenance supervisor. He retired in 2020. Edd transitioned his earthly life on March 19, 2023. He is predeceased by his father, Luvert Walker Sr. and mother, Isabella Walker. He leaves to cherish his legacy: his wife, Annie Pearl (Napier) Walker; stepson, Gregory Napier; sister, Sophia M. Horne; brother, Luvert (Linda) Walker; nieces: LaToya Walker, LisCha (Ali) Tolbert, LaShea Walker and Clara Huff; nephews: Anthony “Tony”, Lindsey, Kenneth Lindsey, Dolphia Horne and a host of cousins and friends. Family hour from 10:00 - 11:00 am on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at The Latimer Chapel, 983 S. Plymouth Ave., Rochester, NY. Omega Fraternity Service at 10:30 am, then a Memorial Service to Celebrate his life will be held 11:00 am. Interment at the convenience of the family.
