ROCHESTER, NY – November 27, 2022
Delsie Caviness was born October 13, 1927, in Norman, North Carolina. She was the 10th of eleven children. She attended Mineral Springs High School.
She was joined in matrimony to Midacie Caviness in 1948 in Norman, North Carolina. She moved to Niagara Falls, New York in 1951, where she lived for a short period of time. Pursuing opportunities for employment, they eventually moved to Rochester, New York, where she resided until her departure.
She was employed with United Cleaners in Rochester for several years. Delsie was very supportive of her customers and was known for always having a sweet disposition.
Delsie joined the Jefferson Avenue Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1957, where she remained a faithful and active servant. She shared her talents and gifts in the church ministry in many capacities, including serving as an aide to the church treasurer. She loved cooking and baking, reading her Bible, and spending quality time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. Most importantly, she was devoted to her church.
On November 27, 2022, Delsie entered into rest surrounded by her immediate family. She is predeceased by her parents, Lott and Martha Capel; her husband, Midacie Caviness, and daughter, Wanda Caviness. She leaves to mourn her loss but cherish her memory: her son, Cornell (Wanda) Caviness; grandchildren: DuWayne (Ida) Caviness, Cynthia Maddox, Danielle (Daniel) Cambric; nine great-grandchildren: Miles and Braeden Caviness, Thengo Kalumbu, Daniel III, DaNia, and DaKota Cambric, Brandon Coaxum, Shaneece (Kenny) Terry, and Shannen Moore; niece, Joyce (Lawrence) Moore; and a host of other loved ones, church family, and friends.
Calling hours will be Sunday, December 4 from 12:00 - 1:00 PM at The Latimer Chapel, 983 South Plymouth Ave. Funeral Service will immediately follow. Interment Grove Place Cemetery, Chili, NY.
