Obituary of Iris Belinda Paskell-Ashford

Please share a memory of Iris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
In Loving Memory of Iris Belinda Ashford Iris Belinda (Paskell) Ashford was born to Morris Paskell and Estella (Fudge) Paskell Coley on June 26, 1961, in Rochester, New York and after a courageous battle with cancer, passed away on May 28, 2022, with her devoted husband Perry by her side. “Linda” as she was affectionately known to family and friends, graduated from Monroe High School in 1979 and began a long career working at GM Delphi, retiring in 2009. A short time after, Linda did something no one expected, she went to work part-time at Leary Elementary School and if you know Linda, you know why that was a surprise. She retired from Leary in 2019 and was looking forward to her next adventure, which was to move to Florida and have no more winters. Linda met her forever partner in 1982 and built a life as a faithful wife and mother to her children, Perry and Brooke. Linda was full of joy; she truly adored her mother and her big extended family. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family at backyard barbecues, challenging others in a game of spades and watching her beloved Cowboys play. Her sense of humor was one of her great qualities, and when she and Perry were together, you knew you were going to laugh till you cried. Linda was a great listener, and easy to talk to, but if you asked her advice, she would give it to you straight, whether you liked it or not, always ending the conversation with “It couldn’t be me” or “If you like it, baby, I loove it!” In 2020, Linda accepted the Lord as her “personal” Savior, choosing Bibleway Healing Assembly as her church home and learned to love Jesus, reading the Bible, and listening to Gospel music. During her illness, she would call on the name of Jesus, and recite Psalms:23, especially during painful moments. Surviving is her husband Perry Robert Ashford, children Perry Mark and Brooke Alexandria. Grandchildren Jah’Nique, Jah’Nashia, Dae’Shaun, Bra’layah; Mother, Estella Coley, Father, Morris Paskell; Siblings Cheryl (Calvin) Elzey, Valerie (Willie) Brooks, and Renard (Lilly) Bratcher, and Michael (Alyssa) Whitfield, who she considered as her brother; Step-sister Cassandra (Philip) Miller; Niece Sherill and Nephew Calvin Jr.; last surviving Aunt Christine Weathers, and a large extended family of cousins including her special Cousin Jackie; Closest friends Roxanne Ross; Beverley Williams, Marge Murray, and Brent McGowan. Linda will be greatly missed by her family, her dear friends and all those she encountered on her life’s journey. Home going celebration to be held at Bibleway Healing Assembly, 4831 W Henrietta Rd. Henrietta, NY 14467 at, with a calling hour at 11:00am and service to begin at noon. Interment immediately following at Mt. Hope Cemetery, 1133 Mt Hope Ave, Rochester, NY 14620.
