Obituary of Nicolle P. Best

ROCHESTER, NY – March 21, 2022 Born March 15, 1968, she was the proud daughter of Robert and Wyoma (Gaskins) Best, a Rochester legend, and sister to Talethea Best. Nicolle was a loving human being. She was thoughtful, hardworking, focused and fiercely loyal to friends and family. Having grown up in Rochester in the 19th ward and attended both public and private schools, Nicolle successfully completed her Associate Degree in Science at Monroe Community College. A gifted communicator and storyteller, Nicolle could easily engage with all kinds of people about a broad range of topics. She was animated and expressive. She was funny with an infectious laugh. People were drawn to her spirit and positive energy. Nicolle was always there to lend a helping hand. Nicolle loved to read, listen to music and watch good movies. She was curious and asked a lot of questions. She was willing to learn, live and love over and over again. Nicolle P. Best, 54, a native of Rochester, NY passed away peacefully on March 21, 2022. Nicolle is survived by her two sons Travion Best Peters and Sebastian Smith of Rochester, NY, sister Talethea Best (Tamarra S.) of Rochester, NY and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members. A Memorial service to celebrate the life of Nicolle Best will be held at the Latimer Chapel, 983 S. Plymouth Ave. Rochester, NY, Saturday, April 2nd at 1:00 PM. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Rochester Association of Black Journalists – Wyoma Best Scholarship Fund. Interment Private. Masks required.
