ROCHESTER, NY - January 3, 2022 Debra Ann Simpkins was born July 2, 1955, in the District of Columbia, to the late Delozier and Nancy Reed Simpkins. In the late sixties, Debra moved to Rochester, New York with her mother and three younger siblings. She continued her education in the Rochester City School District where she graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1974. Debra’s career path included working as a school bus driver for the Rochester City School District and serving as caretaker for her late mother and her Aunt Lee. A person of diverse interests, Debra was often found enjoying art, textile crafts, puzzles, and the rhythmic styles of the 80s R&B. In 2007, Debra was baptized and confirmed as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Debra transitioned her earthly life on January 3, 2022. She is predeceased by her parents and a niece, Mekadah Simpkins. She leaves to cherish her memory: her siblings: Donald and David Simpkins of Atlanta, GA, and Sheryle Simpkins of Baltimore, MD; nieces: LaTieka Simpkins of Atlanta, GA, Sherrie Simpkins of Bedford, TX, Kari Simpkins, Sharneisha (Gary) Mull, and Aziza Simpkins of Rochester, NY, and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, friends and neighbors. Memorial Service Friday, January 21, 2022, 4:00 PM at The Latimer Chapel. Interment Private. Masks required.
