It began in 1968, a friendship that was heartfelt.... both of us almost 2, 000 miles from home..... at a school that had less than a hand full of us on campus before our class arrival consisting of nearly 30 Black students. We Black students changed the social and political dynamics of the school. You played an important part in those changes. You and I shared so many commonalities along with the other Brothers and Sisters. As well as taking to heart a host of newly realized interests as young adults. We joked & laughed a lot. We made personal and academic improvements to improve ourselves, shared what needed to change to be better young men. You easily became known as the coolest Brother on campus.... we nicknamed you "New York". Your presence and coolness (ways of acting) at all important events we engaged in made campus life better for us as Black students.
Your presence in this life will be sorely missed .... but a memory of you will be permanently imprinted in the minds of me and all the other Brothers and Sisters who attended Park College..... in our time. Peace.
