A Tribute to My Beloved Godfather, Herman Morrison
I want to honor and remember a man who became more than an Uncle to me; he became my Godfather, a mentor, and a guiding light during some of the most crucial times of my life. When my own father passed, Uncle Herman stepped in and embraced me with a love and care that made me feel safe, whole, and cherished. His presence was a blessing, and his love was steadfast and unconditional.
I remember the sleepovers with Jasmine, filled with laughter, late-night talks, and endless support. Uncle Herman would always welcome us with open arms, sharing his warmth and wisdom, and reminding us of the importance of family, morals, and values. He taught me so much about life—about doing what’s right, about kindness, about standing tall and being proud of who I am. His words and actions were lessons I carry with me every day.
And then there was his cooking—the best I’ve ever tasted, infused with love and a bit of his signature flair. Those home-cooked meals weren’t just food; they were memories, and they connected us in a way that words couldn’t. He nourished my spirit as much as he filled my plate, always giving, always caring.
Uncle Herman, you have been a beacon of encouragement and support throughout my life. You believed in me when I needed it the most, and with such joy. I miss you deeply.
As you journey on to reunite with my father, I know that heaven is welcoming you with open arms. I can only imagine the grand celebration happening there now, a reunion of souls, a family gathering that’s filled with love, laughter, and endless BBQs.
Rest in peace, Uncle Herman. Thank you for being my godfather, my protector, and my friend. You are forever in my heart.
