ROCHESTER, NY – January 20, 2024 – US Navy Veteran Frank Griffin, Jr. Leader, Protector, Provider, Family man, and our SuperHero!!!! Frank Griffin Jr. was born on August 9th, 1964, and entered into rest on January 20th, 2024. Frank (affectionately known as “Lil Frank”) was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Frank Griffin, Sr. and Alexzina V. Griffin. In 1967, Frank, Sr. and Alexzina migrated to Rochester, N.Y. and Frank, Jr. began attending Rochester public schools. In High School, Frank’s love for Bruce Lee movies, martial arts, and collecting superhero comic books, led him to join the wrestling team. Following in his father’s footsteps, he joined the United States Navy upon graduation from East High School (1982). He loved serving and was a proud veteran. When he returned to Rochester, he began working as a mail carrier for the USPS and later accepted a leadership position at Eastman Kodak. While working, he began his college education. Obtaining two certifications from Rochester Institute of Technology where he earned his Associate degree in Quality and Production Management as well as certificates for Basic Quality and Management Development. He went on to complete his Bachelor of Science degree at St. John Fisher University (formerly College) for Corporate Finance. Upon completion, he began working as a Manufacturing Supervisor for General Motors. Frank was a born leader. Not only in his professional life, but his personal life. He took pride in his Leadership role and the teams that he supervised. He would often engage in conversations about politics, business, financial management, and the Bible with family and friends. Frank’s business mind led him to start Griffin’s Hots Emporium L.L.C. Family was one of the most important things to him. Not only biological, but close friends who he called brothers or sisters. This love for family started his marriage to his soulmate, Pamela Hamilton in 1988. In that union, their daughter Shannon was born and 4 grandchildren. He enjoyed listening to Al Green and Jeffery Osborne, watching sci-fi movies, politics, cooking, and coming up with special ingredients to marinate and grill food with them. He would always help others when he was able and Loved God so much. Frank was loved by many and will forever be in our hearts. Frank is preceded in death by his Father, Frank Griffin, Sr. and Father-in-Law, Governor “Cuz” Hamilton. Frank is survived by; his Loving wife, Pamela; daughter, Shannon; 2 Grandsons, Ji’zaiah & Victor and 2 Granddaughters, Nahla and Noella; Mother, Alexzina V. Griffin; 3 Sisters, Sonya, Tunya, and Antoinette (Yvette) Griffin; Mother-In-Law, Doreen Hamilton; Sisters-in-Law, Lisa Ridgeway (Keith), and Crystal Dennis; Brother-in-Law, Terry Lee Hamilton, Sr. (Mary Jane); 1 Great-Aunt, Evon Walker; 1 Aunt, Ronnie Ann; 1 Uncle, Marcell (Pearl), a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, family from Niagara Falls, Canada, other relatives and close friends. Calling hours will be Monday, February 5 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at The Latimer Chapel, 983 South Plymouth Avenue, Rochester, NY. The Funeral Service to Celebrate his life will immediately follow at 12 Noon. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rochester, NY.
