
Obituary of Mary Beatrice Brunson
ROCHESTER, NY – November 14, 2025
Mary Beatrice Brooks, daughter of Johnnie Brooks and Dora Etta Finkley, was born in Sanford, Florida on December 4, 1935. She had 2 sisters: late-Lillian Simmons (Robert) and Barbara Jones (Rosevelt). Mary had one brother: late-Cornelius Brooks (Charlene).
Mary Beatrice Brooks was united in Holy Matrimony to Willie Brunson, Sr. in the month of December 1956 and were blessed with 9 children.
Mary Beatrice Brunson began her education in Sanford, Florida and completed her education in New York state and received her diploma.
Mary was always a care giver. She worked at the “Rochester State Hospital” facility until it closed many years ago. She also did private duty in people’s homes until her family continued growing which limited her time to be able to work outside the home.
Mary Beatrice Brunson was a faithful Christian affiliated with the Church of God. She served as the secretary, Sunday school teacher and usher with many other responsibilities in Goodman St/Higher Heights Church of God under the late Rev. Julian R. Cox, Bishop Bruno and her son, Bishop Julius Brunson. Some of Mary’s children were members of Provision Full Gospel Church, under Pastor Johnny H. Harris where she soon joined. Mary loved the Word of God, the people of God and inspirational music.
Mary lived at Rochester Presbyterian home for 5 years and due to change in her health was transferred to Highlands of Brighton when she passed away.
Mary Beatrice Brunson transitioned from this life into her eternal resting place on Friday, November 14, 2025. She leaves to cherish her memories, predeceased-her husband Willie Brunson Sr., predeceased-daughter, Delores (Todd) Uthman, Darryl (Audrey) Brunson, Carolyn Brunson-Jones, Savannah, Georgia, Valarie (Carlton) Floyd, Kenneth (Lisa) Brunson, Willie (predeceased Cochina) Brunson, Julius (Diana) Brunson, Dwight (Monica) Brunson and predeceased son-John Brunson. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, grand-children, great grand-children and great great grand-children along with many friends.
Friends may call Saturday, November 22 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at Ark Of Jesus Ministries, 1000 N. Winton Road, Rochester, NY. The Funeral Service to Celebrate her life will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, November immediately follow. Interment Falls Cemetery, Greece, NY.
