Obituary of Robert D. Lee Sr.

ROCHESTER, NY – August 12, 2025

Mr. Robert D. Lee was born August 7, 1934, in Memphis, Tennessee to Robert Lee and Olivia Cobb, he spent his adult life in St. Louis, Missouri, raising his family and working as a skilled construction superintendent. Robert was a devoted father who supported his children’s education and careers, and a proud member of New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where he formed lasting friendships.

Known for his love of gospel and blues music, Robert’s infectious smile and quick wit brought joy to those around him. In 2022, he moved to Rochester, NY, where he was lovingly cared for by his daughter, Carmen Allen during a long illness.

Tuesday, August 12, 2025 he passed away peacefully at age 91. He is survived by; his wife, Alice Lee; children: Eldest son, Robert Meyer (predeceased), Rhonda Lee Cooper, Robin (Zoe) Shepherd, Carmen (John) Allen, Felicia (James) Lee-White, and Robert D. Lee, Jr.; sister, Bobbie Scott; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Friends may call Saturday, August 23 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 549 Clarissa Street, Rochester, NY. The Funeral Service to Celebrate his life will immediately follow at 12:00 Noon. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery, Rochester, NY.
