ROCHESTER, NY – June 25, 2025 Julian Michael “Scooter” Powers, born June 30, 1965, in Rochester, New York. He was the beloved son of Thomas E. Powers Jr. and Marilyn J. Powers. A proud graduate of Edison High School, Class of 1983, Scooter served honorably in the United States Marine Corps until 1987. After his military service, he embraced fatherhood with devotion, raising his three children with strength and love. He later became a doting grandfather to seven cherished grandchildren. Scooter was a master electrician by trade, an excellent chef by passion, and a gifted wood craftsman whose hands built more than just structures—they built memories. He found peace in fishing, joy in good jazz, and meaning in simple moments shared with family and friends. He passed away June 25, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. He was survived by his parents; three children, Trent, Victoria, and Alexandrea; seven grandchildren, Aiden, Tyler, Cameron, Mason, Trinity, Olivia, and Julianna; he was a beloved brother to his sister, Michelle Adeyemo of Atlanta, GA, and is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas E. Powers III. Scooter’s warmth, humor, and steadfast spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Friends may call Thursday, July 10 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 141 Adams Street, Rochester, NY. The Funeral Service to Celebrate his life will immediately follow with Rev. Wade Norwood officiating. Interment at the convenience of the family.
