Obituary of Carrie Rush Green

ROCHESTER, NY - May 20, 2025
Carrie Rush Green was born on October 22, 1932, in Williamsburg County, South Carolina. She was the youngest daughter of the late Ernest Rush and the late Mary Scott.
In 1950, Carrie married the late Roland Green, and together they began building and nurturing their family. They later relocated to Rochester, NY, in 1953, where Carrie worked in various service roles, including housekeeping, restaurants, and assembly work.
Carrie joined New Bethel CME Church in 1973, where she faithfully served the Lord as a missionary and stewardess.
Carrie was known for her beautiful spirit—loving, caring, and kind to everyone she encountered. She cherished spending time and having conversations with her loved ones. Carrie had a passion for flowers and gardening, and she took great joy in sharing her homegrown collard greens, corn, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, peaches, and pears.
She was predeceased by; her parents; husband, Roland Green; her sons, Andrew and Lamar; her daughter, Elaine; her siblings, Everneva Rush, Elease Rush Fulmore, Margaret Rush, Etta Rush, and Hill’s Rush; and her grandchildren, Quinette Green, Richard Brown Jr., Terrell Green, and Herbert Green Jr.
Carrie is survived by; her daughters, Lillie, Carrie Ann, and Shirley; her sons, Herbert (Barbara), Richard, Roland Thomas, and Darren (Loretta); her brother-in-law, Bobbie (Janie) Greene; and her daughter-in-law, Rhonda Langley-Green. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Millard E. Latimer & Son Funeral Chapel, 983 South Plymouth Avenue, Rochester, NY.
A Homegoing service to celebrate Carrie’s beautiful life will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at New Bethel CME Church, 270 Scio Street, Rochester, NY. The viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by the Homegoing service at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, with the repass to follow at New Bethel CME Church.
