Obituary of Deaconess Bettye Jean Pace-Robinson

ROCHESTER, NY – April 16. 2025
Bettye Jean Pace Robinson, fondly known as Bettye, passed away at the age of 78 on April 16, 2025, in Rochester, New York. She was born on March 4, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Ethel Mae (Jones) Dickens and James Henry Dickens.
Bettye received her education in the Philadelphia school system and went on to graduate from the James Martin Vocational License Practical Nursing Program. She continued her education at graduate school and pursued a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse for an impressive 47 years. Her passion for nursing was evident in the compassionate care she provided to countless patients throughout her career.
A woman of faith, Bettye was a lifelong member of The House of God, having joined in her teen years. She actively participated in the church, serving as the church secretary, singing in the choir, and fulfilling the role of a deaconess. Her dedication to her church and community showed her caring and selfless nature.
Bettye was known for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering generosity. She always put others before herself and derived great satisfaction from helping those in need. Her warm smile and comforting presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Bettye was preceded in death by her loving parents, her son John Fredrick Pace Jr., and her siblings Charles, Billy, Anita, Zelma, Shirley, Edwin, Alford, Morris, Ella, and James.
She is survived by her devoted husband Luther N. Robinson and her beloved children Kim White, Karen Estes, Kathy Pace, Kyra Pace, Keisha Allen, Lillie Mae Hilton Gaillard, Luther Robinson Jr., Celestine Allen (Timothy), James Robinson, Talitha-Koumi Oluwafemi, and Verdis Robinson. Her sisters Hope VanLoan, Edna Clevland, Mary Ann Jones, Ethyl Myers, Eugenia Bennet, Martha Dickens, Francis Kent, 26 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends. Bettye was a dedicated wife and mother, whose family meant everything to her.
The family will be holding a Homegoing service to honor and celebrate Bettye's life at Latimer Funeral Chapel on Friday, April 25th, 2025. The waking hour will begin at 11:00 am, immediately followed by her Home going Service at 12:00 noon. Bishop Harry H. Haygood, the Presiding Prelate of the New York Diocese and Pastor of The House of God Church, Inc. will serve as Officiant. Interment will follow Homegoing Services at The historic Mount Hope Cemetery.
Bettye Jean Robinson leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service that will forever be cherished by her family and community. May she rest in peace, knowing she left a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
