Obituary of Newton Herman DePass

ROCHESTER, NY – April 10, 2025 Newton Herman DePass, affectionally called “Gersh”, was the sixth and last child born to Nathaniel and Mary (Cormack) DePass. He was born April 16, 1928, at Jackson, St. Mary in Jamaica. Newton attended Jackson elementary school in Jamaica. He later became an innovative, strategic, ethical and resilient businessman. He migrated to the USA in 1962 and lived and worked in Florida until 1965. He later relocated to Rochester for work and has lived here ever since. He worked in the construction industry and was employed by the Local 435 Labor Union in Rochester, NY as a laborer and construction worker until his retirement. On April 10, 2025, he transitioned his earthly life. He leaves to cherish his memory; his beloved sister, Clara Burton”Popsy”; daughters, Elaine and Glenda; sons, Rensford and Michael; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Friends may call Wednesday, April 23 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at The Latimer Chapel, 983 South Plymouth Avenue, Rochester, NY.
