Charlotte Melissa Ellis “Cookie”
May 8, 1972 – February 17, 2025
Charlotte Melissa Ellis was born on May 8, 1972 in Newark, New Jersey to Mary Alice Ellis. Charlotte grew up in Rochester, NY where she created a beautiful life for herself.
Charlotte’s passion for cooking was undeniable. She had a special way of turning every meal into a celebration, filling her home with warmth and the delicious aroma of home cooked meals. Her kitchen was where her creativity flourished, she always knew how to make those around her feel welcomed. With an ice cold Pepsi and a raging red lipstick Charlotte was ready for anything. She also had a passion for fashion, She took extreme pride in her appearance and has passed that down to her children.
Beyond her culinary talents, Charlotte found joy in taking care of the plants that filled her home, nurturing them as she did with everyone she loved. She found peace in watching them grow, much like she watched her family grow with pride and devotion.
Charlotte was known for her infectious laughter, her raw vivacious personality and her ability to dance through life with joy. Whether it was sharing jokes with her friends & family or breaking into a dance when a song came on, she had a way of lighting up any room she entered bringing joy to those around her. Her humor and lightheartedness were a constant source of inspiration & love, she knew just how to make someone smile.
Charlotte was a cherished mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her kindness, her laughter and her unwavering love left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
Above all, Charlotte was a proud devoted mother, a lover of Christ & the BEST Nana a child could ask for, always prioritizing the needs of her children first. Her love for them was boundless, and she dedicated herself to being their rock, guiding them with wisdom, compassion, and a steady hand. She was their greatest cheerleader, their confidante, their constant source of love their HERO.
Charlotte Melissa Ellis was called home on February 17, 2025, at the age of 52. She is survived by her beautiful family of 5; her children, Karshae, her beloved and only son, Dyshawn, Kychaudia, Raven & last but certainly not least, her babygirl, Ty’sauni Bri who was her absolute pride and joy; with 8 grandchildren to follow, Jay’vion, Wayland, Shay’aan, Taylor, Rhy’lynn, Ollie, Mackenzie & Robyn; her two sisters, Atronda and Gloria; her only brother, Billy Ellis; a host of nieces and nephews and her longtime Friend turned sister, Windie. She shaped all those whose hearts she touched with intentional love and care. Her legacy will live on through her family, in the meals shared, the laughter echoed, and the unconditional love and knowledge she gave so unapologetically.
Sleep in Heavenly peace, our dearest Charlotte Melissa Ellis. You will always be so deeply loved & missed, your spirit will continue to guide and inspire us daily.
