HENRIETTA, NY – January 24, 2025
William “Bill” Joseph Scott was born on December 29, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Walter and Laura Scott. He entered eternity on January 24, 2025, at home with his beloved wife, Deborah, by his side.
Bill received his early education at St. Lucy Catholic School and earned the Mother Cabrini Scholarship to attend the Aquinas Institute, graduating in 1970. He excelled in academics and athletics, participating in track, football, and student council. He later attended Monroe Community College, earning an Associate of Science degree in 1972, and continued his education at Tuskegee University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education in 1976.
A man of deep faith, Bill was a devoted member of Saint Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church until its closure, later worshipping at Immaculate Conception and Genesee Baptist Church.
Bill worked as an eligibility worker for the Department of Social Services, a teacher and coach in the Rochester City School District and as an inspector at General Motors for 30 years until his retirement in 2009. During his retirement he enjoyed working as a security officer at a local health clinic.
Bill was a devoted sports fan who passionately supported his New York teams, especially the Knicks, Yankees, Syracuse basketball, and his beloved Buffalo Bills. He also had a deep love for music, traveling, and attending festivals. Above all, he cherished his role as a husband, father, and grandfather, finding joy in every moment spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Stamps; daughter, Marcella Carr-BeCoats (Reshard); granddaughter, Carys Carr; and many loving relatives and friends.
Bill’s legacy of love, wisdom, and kindness will be cherished forever.
